Hello all! Hoping to get some information about the Gogebic Lake area...has anyone been? Thinking about hiking up there to check it out...I imagine--like everywhere else--it's worth the trek to see.

Hey gypsy, I can't say that I've been there. I'm sure it would be worth the hike up there. It's a dead end lake and probably doesn't get a bunch of traffic.

Gogebic is a designated brook trout lake and has been stocked for the past 10 years. It looks to be over 100 feet higher in elevation than West Pine Lake and I can't speak to the portage up there, but I'm sure it's passable.

Bring your fly rod and give it a shot, and bring your report back to the board and share. I'd be interested in how it is.

Anyone else have any info on Gogebic?

Johnse

Here's the stocking report I pulled from the MN DNR website.

Thank you so much JJB! I appreciate the information!

Now that I know it's a big Trout lake, I will definitely have to try throwing a line or two in. Will return with pictures and stories...

If anyone else has any information on this area, I would love to hear it! While my trip isn't until the end of May, it's fun to daydream!

Thanks again and enjoy your day,
Beth
